hai, just skyped with my brother. all of a sudden i wished he was back in spore. he came down with fever and cough too but there's no one to care for him there. i totally get what he's feeling. at least i've my mum n maid to care for me. deliver manuka honey, juices and oats to me. heard that in order to see the doctor there u gotta make an appointment. no walk ins. then he's staying in the suburban and no car which makes going out to get food and medicine even more of a chore when you're sick. hai, heng he brought panadol from home. he told us about his racism encounters with the bus driver (which made him write in to the local papers) and said it's hard to make friends with the ang mos there. so he hangs out with singaporeans. most singaporeans enter uni in jan unlike him in june and his singaporean friends are from diff courses hence he gets lil help with his work. so he said he's gonna make friends with some "loner" aussie, in order to ask for help. he says talking to ang mos is very tiring, because they don't understand our accent and what we're saying. i think i would just die over there, as a mute. hah.. then he says the ang mos hang out in cliques. hmmm, sounds so familiar. was wondering don't most singaporean students and i discreetly treat foreign students that way? we kinda ostracize the china chinese, indos etc too don't we? but it's wierd to open up and be friendly to them for no apparent reason right. i wonder how does that new ang mo exchange guy feels. he seems rather funny. while lining up to collect lab equipment, i heard him say to his fellow group mates who were already in the front of the queue, that he'll just stand aside and be useless. i guess that's because once lab briefing's over and it's time to start, singaporeans and other nationalities chiong to the front to get gloves and equipment. so naturally the ang mo feels a tad bit slow? hearing his reaction was funny..
