right..as expected X couldn't get up in time to accompany me to our first yoga class. so i went ahead. it was at 10am and honestly if not for the fact that i had family breakfast i would be lazy too. hate to go alone but what the heck, i don't think i need someone to talk to during class rite. ever since we signed up, i think last nov or sth, we've barely stepped foot into california fitness. like use one hand to count also more than enough. so far we made an attempt to join some body combat class, but the moment we stepped in, we laughed non stop so we excused ourselves. (trust me, when you see people punching air and moving in sync with the hip hop beats you'll definately crack up) and the other rare times in the gym was for personal training sessions. (it's long overdued but he's my mum's trainer so he's ok) so i thought, just go ahead since i really missed ashtanga yoga.
hmmm..class was okay, fast paced as usual and vigorous. didn't have to wait till tmr to start aching. felt so drained after the 2 hour class, i cancelled my shopping trip. all i felt like doing was lying in bed and not moving. ashtanga always makes me feel giddy, perhaps cos their poses require you to bend over and look down etc.
the last time i had ashtanga was like 4 years ago or sth. with liyi, irene, esther and my partner. that was one hell of a work out man. i felt really detoxed after sweating it out. it was one of those nondescript yoga places, held in the second level of a chinatown shophouse. i really missed those days. i liked the personal interaction we had with out abc instructor ( pretty too!). unlike cali's.. (they don't correct your mistakes) hai, too bad they closed down cos of financial strains i think. heard she joined those mass yoga companies like pure yoga. today's lesson was taught by mazie, not local i think cos i didn't understand what she was saying.
i also recalled last time was so xiong, some of my friends wanted to faint. i felt dizzy also, and once i excused myself halfway from class cos i was about to shiver. sudden hunger pang/low glucose. luckily i had my granola bars with me that day.there was this other time i was so famished after class, i wolfed down an entire packet of mei zheng xiang bacon strips right after class. felt so damn good la.. after all i just detoxed what.
anyway, yoga really improves flexibility. i used to get ~28/30 points for my 10 years of napfa tests. i would get full marks for all stations except my sit and reach. 3 points only. after learning yoga, i managed to hit 4 points, but still no full marks. and after EVERY SINGLE YOGA CLASS, we would ache like mad the next day. it's even more powderful than pt sessions i must say. hmmm..i'll try to make it a point to go for every sun's lesson to flex out my stiffened-ed-ed bones :)
